So most of you know that I am huge fan of musical theater. At the end of the first act there is a closing number that blows the top off of the theater. They usually go into intermission on a very excited 'high note'. (haha...)
Well this past year was Act 1. And MAN did it end with a high note. I spent my last week in the Czech Republic at an English Camp that was put on by my school. It was for pre-teen children. It was a blast getting to build relationships with not only some pretty incredible students but also with teenagers and adults I will continue working with next year, and an awesome team of people from 121 church in Grapevine. They came out and rolled up their sleeves and got to work. It was so wonderful to see Americans so excited about investing in the lives of the students I have gotten to know all year.
The week was a wonderful opportunity for us to share our faith and show who Jesus and God are. We had several students open their minds to the idea of God and that was a HUGE encouragement for us.
So I got back to Ostrava on Saturday, hung out with some friends Saturday night and Sunday because I wasn't going to have another opportunity before I left. Packed, cleaned, repacked, recleaned... :) Then on Monday took a train to Prague. I was very privileged to have a travel buddy with me back to Texas. Erica Martinez, a fellow teacher and Texan, decided to book her flights the same as mine so that we wouldn't have to go alone. That is a team right there!
So Monday night, Erica, Chelsea, and I had an expensive last meal in the Czech Republic. Watched sunset from Charles Bridge (a last night tradition of mine) and enjoyed some Cream and Dream gelatto. We spent the night at a hotel by the airport. Chelsea's dad, a frequent traveler, hooked us up with a room. It was so nice and relaxing. Which is what we needed, for little did we know that the next was going to be super crazy!
Our traveling home was a bit of an adventure. It started with a notification from the kiosk that we didn't have a reservation on our flight, to trying to board the wrong flight in Frankfurt, having missed our flight (unknowingly), to gracious flight employers who moved our tickets free of charge, to SPRINTING through Washing Dulles to make final boarding of our flight to DFW, knowing that our bags probably weren't on the plane with us.
We were constantly met with positive people who were understanding and willing to help. So that even though the experience was rough, we had a peace the whole time about it.
I am in day 2 with out luggage, but it has been located and is on the way. YAY! They found it in Frankfurt. So hopefully later today I can get my bag and have clothes to wear.
Thanks for all your prayers and support through out this whole year. I really couldn't have done it without you! I am currently starting an intermission in Texas. Then heading back for Act 2.
