So, this post is just going to be what has been happening to me the past few weeks. Nothing deep just basic surface level stuff to keep you up to date with what I am actually doing. : )
So...basic run down of my week. Monday starts at 7:00 in the morning with my first class. A business class. I have 2 business classes every week. One Monday morning and one Friday morning both at 7. I have three public courses, an English proficiency exam prep course, a youth course and a children's course. These are Monday evening, Tuesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon respectively.
Finally I teach 14 hours a week at an international primary school here in Ostrava. I teach 2nd grade through 6th grade English and Science. In some of my classes the teacher is there to help lead. In others, I am on my own. I love my time at this school and have enjoyed getting to know the teachers and students.
My time not teaching is spent either planning, catching up with people on the internet or building relationships with those here. Every Friday night we have a youth meeting of some sort. I have been meeting with the youth group at the local church here, and once a month we have a film night. Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday night are my chill times. Times to sit and just be. Not really do anything.
My weekends have been spent here in Ostrava. Getting to know the city and hanging out with people are a big part of that. Today I traveled to the Polish border to get some pottery. One of the Czech English teachers here had not heard of this Polish pottery. So I took advantage of the opportunity to show her. Poland is only an hour train ride from here, and since it only costs about $3.50 for a round trip ticket, we went this morning.
Next weekend I am heading across the country by train to visit my friends on the west side of the Czech Republic. I'm excited about seeing the country in the fall. The leaves here change and are BEAUTIFUL! Way excited.
Well that's about it. That is what my life is like here. Keep praying for establishing this as home. God is definitely calling my heart to be here and I need to be faithful to that calling. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers! They mean more than you know!
Čau (chow) for now from Ostrava!
