To everything...

I have Pete Seeger song stuck in my head this morning. It is an adaptation from Ecclesiastes 3.

Because of that song, everyone is familiar with the first eight versus. However, today in my reading God brought verse 14 to my attention:

"I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it, and nothing taken from it. God does it so that all men will revere Him."

God is eternal. Everything on this earth is here for a time. There is nothing here that will not die or burn up eventually. Even if you don't believe in God you have to admit that one day the sun will burn out, since it is a star, and everything on the earth will be destroyed. Life is a vapor. A short wisp of smoke that is here and then gone.

I find hope that God endures forever! Everything that He orchestrates is eternal, because HE is eternal. Our soul is eternal, because God breathed life into us. Not just the breath that you need to continue existing, but a breath of eternal life.

God has brought some terrifying circumstances into my life this week. He is constantly reminding me that life, as we know it, is temporary. The work that we do is in vain if it is not for eternal purposes! We are to do kingdom work while here on this dying earth so that our labors have eternal value.

Please pray for my family. As excited as I am to move to the Czech Republic, it is also hard to leave behind the familiar. (Family) We have a lot of things going on in our family. I know that God is faithful and His will is perfect! Pray that we will lean on Him for strength and wisdom and comfort!
