My teammates enjoying their pizza they ordered in Czech. :) |
Success has been our word for the past four days. (Have we only been here four days?) In those four days I have successfully taken public transportation every day, bought food, registered with the foreign police, toured Ostrava, ordered food from a food stand (all in Czech mind you!), found an English bookstore, taken more passport photos, gone to a Czech church (with English translation), made Czech acquaintances which I am sure will become dear friends, taken a shower with a hand held shower head, and stuck together through it all.
I cannot tell you how blessed I am to be able to take on this journey with such an amazing team. Through everything, the good and the bad, we stick together and laugh. Yesterday, we were supposed to meet a former Fishnet employee at 2 in front of city hall. Well....we underestimated the amount of time it would take us to get there. We JUST missed the 1:50 troljebus (trolly bus) to city hall. So we had to wait for the 2:05 bus. This meant we were already going to be late. The bus took a while getting through the Monday traffic (which we didn't experience on the weekend). We decided, to get us closer to the city hall, we would stay on the bus one stop past where we normally get off. Well, the bus turned a corner and took us about 6 blocks away from City Hall in the opposite direction. At 2:30 we arrived at city hall, sweaty and embarrassed.
Those of you that know me, know that I like to be on time if not a little bit early to whatever I am going to. Through training and spending time with people who care a little less about that I have become a bit more lax. Yesterday we laughed as the bus turned the corner and sped off in the opposite direction of where we wanted to go.
Laughter and joy in the smallest things have kept us positive. I pray that this outlook continues as we start our jobs in a couple of weeks and life really begins here in the Czech Republic. Our God is the god of all comfort! (2 Corinthians 1) He will walk with us through every step and comfort us in those moments of distress and STRESS!
The Lord has already been faithful to provide for me and my teammates exactly what we need. It is a JOY to see Him working. His faithfulness is overwhelming at times. I have already heard stories from other teams of how He is providing for them as well. Praise the Lord! He is sharpening us to the point where we must fully rely on Him for all of our needs. Such blessings!
